Clean and tidy

Super friendly staff who went out their way to be helpful. Also they have an Asterix Obelisk outside and a Lucky Luke lounging on the roof - definitely my favourite French provincial railway station.
We caught a train from Paris to Gare d'Angouleme and have been back there on several occasions lately. It is so easy to get around in the city. So many round abouts. We had a car waiting for us at Avis and even though we speak limited French, we had no problems at all. The staff were excellent and friendly. There's a small gift shop and cafe attached and once again we were treated excellent.
The gare has improved tremendously. There is a café and helpful employees. The passerelle is finished, so you can go up and down lifts on every track. They are now reinstalling the bicycle garage. They are also in the process of building another car park on the other side of the tracks, easily accessible by the new passerelle. Please note that negative comments here are a year old!
Terrible. Nowhere to wait. No stores no cafe and it can take 30 mn to get out of the brand new parking place A SHAME
Bordeaux - Angouleme (100km) in 30min - Yeah :) Parking spot to parking exit (50m) in 30min - nooo! :( Train station looks nice from the outside but is not functional at all. * no handicap ramps (but hey, they have handicap parking ;-) * small hall * tiny and extremely narrow drop off zone * parking is the biggest issue, not organized, limited and tiny spots, and major traffic jam * long term parking is more expensive than the other parking?!? Hoping that whomever designed this no longer designs anything for the city, it is ruining the beautiful Angouleme. Google still shows the old pictures of the train station before they renovated it, yes it had its issues but was so much more functional for drop-off zone and parking.
