The place is a very peaceful and quiet walk through history and a much required break from all the places crowded with tourists. The place offers a lot of shade so the heat does not bother you at all. We walked through the entire island and it took us about an hour and a half. The two highlights would definitely be the view from the tower as well as the walkway to the main chapel in the centre of the island. We expected to see the monks, which we didn't which we were a bit disappointed about. Still, this is one of the best experiences around the Riviera and a great escape from all the tourists.

Peaceful, unique, the oldest monastery of all Christianity, a moment out of time, 2 nautical miles from the coast of Cannes. Monk's have lived here for 16 centuries, making one of the most exclusive wines of the region.

You can attend services in the church. While the Abbaye is a worthwhile photographic subject your pictures may end up looking like everyone else's. I wish I had packed a lunch so I could have stayed longer on the island.

The island and the abbey is a book in history. We did a free tour at the original building where the monks used to live on the western part of the island and the guide was quite knowledgeable about the place and spoke good English. It also has a shop where you could buy local wine, liquor, herbs etc. and abbey-branded products such as knives. Highly recommended. Take water and garbage bags with you, the trash cans were decided to be removed so take care of this things yourself please

Beautiful little island. Both castle and monastery are worth visiting. The munks on the island make a living by producing their own wine and selling it in the island souvenir shop. Got a bottle and it was great.

Nice quiet (at least on a Wednesday) self guided stroll around the island. Didn't get to sample the wine, since we spent 4 hours wandering through the gardens and paths. Fantastic old fortified abbey that made for a nice day away from the hustle of the cities.
