One of the most spectacular in the Loire valley. Not much artifacts but what's there is good and beautiful.

Amazing view of Amboise and of the Loire's river. Impressive architecture. Wonderfull hanging garden and interior. It's possible to buy a book that contains information about all the castles of Loire. Worth the visit!

Must see when in the area, last resting place of Leonardo da vinci himself. Lovely castle and great town to walk through.

a beautiful and peaceful place, out of time and out of the rush and the noise of the world around and below.

You can read all you want about the great chateaux, but until you actually walk around one for a few hours, it's hard to appreciate the scale & grandeur of them. Obviously there are lots of different options to check out in the Loire, but Amboise is pretty special & well worth considering if you only plan to see one while you are in the area. There's great views outside (free) as well as walking through. Kids are free but must be accompanied by an adult, & the inside visit is now much more worthwhile than when we visited 20 years ago with the place furnished as it likely was in its heyday.
