one of its kind! Made of volcanic stone, an architectural marvel standing in the center. Walking through the old streets takes you to this gigantic centuries old structure. Best time to visit, I guess, will be in November-January. Witnessing this marvel with snow covered peaks in the background will surely be a treat!

The beautiful cathedral is the only one in France entirely built with volcanic stones hence its dark features. It’s majestic and very elegant. It is on the highest point of the city center, it looks upon the whole town and faces the Puy de Dome. Constructions are happening at the moment on the inside. Yet, the beauty inside isn’t affected at all. Great visit when in Clermont Ferrand.

I like it very much because it's different, completely dark because It is built entirely in black lava stone, which makes it highly distinctive, and visible from a great distance. Its twin spires are 108 meters tall, and tower above the town's rooftops. Definitely worth a visit if you're around. You can also climb up the tower which might be a little exhausting but rewarding. Check my photos to have an idea of the view you might expect. The view from the top is simple remarkable.
