Heartless people with truly robotic style of work. Never pick up phones on time, never reply emails on time, very impolite. I’ve had many visa experiences in my life, this one is the worst. Never seen an attitude like this. Would never ever come to this country again because of this beautiful people who have no desire of doing their job well.

Useless lazy bums. Also, the opening times do not correspond to the times specified on their google page. Avoid at all costs.

In late July 2020 I emailed the consulate in Paris because I wanted to apply for South African birth certificates and passports for my kids. Having read the other reviews here I was not optimistic...but six minutes after sending the email I received a reply from Patricia Journe, at the embassy, asking me to send her a self-addressed and stamped envelope so she could post the application forms to me. Within a week I had them. As we planned to visit Paris from our home in Lyon in early August, I asked Patricia if I could bring the forms in to the consulate, rather than post them, so I could be sure I had all the correct supporting documents. Patricia gave me a date and time and, together with my family, I met her at the consulate one morning. Twenty minutes later, she had gone through all the forms, and the applications were submitted. She could not have been more helpful. There was slight one hiccup - Patricia called me later that day to say one of the documents I submitted was not in the correct format, but fortunately I was able to order the right one online from the UK government. Patricia kept checking up with me by email until the document arrived last week, and the file could be sent to South Africa for processing. Thank you for the excellent service, Patricia.

I don't usually write reviews but it's impossible no to do it after the nightmare I experienced. It has been the worst administrative experience I've ever had in my life. I went to the embassy 19 times. I requested a tourist visa with multiple entries. I booked my trip to Zambia, Bostwana and South Africa. 30 minutes before the embassy closed and one day before my flight they gave me the visa with single entry. These people are really mean and terrible human beings. They tell you: \You have to change your flight\. At any cost, if you can avoid going to this place do it. All the stress is not worth it. The men and the women that work there are incompetent and evil. Avoid the embassy and consulate.

Absolutely disgusted and ashamed to be South African. When I EVENTUALLY got through to the lady on the phone I told her I was relieved someone finally answered and she gave me a snarky response that she has been there all day. When I started asking my question she very sarcastically told me my problem is not hers and I must direct my problem (not inquiry mind, but my \problem\) to the french consulate in South Africa. Extremely disappointed in my countrywoman. How dare you.

I had to travel by train to renew my passport and ID document and the reception in Paris was absolutely professional, friendly and competent. Yes, a lot of South African people in France are on the waiting list for the new passports, but maybe it's time to stop blaming the SA embassy in Paris and open your eyes where the real problem is, which is South Africa My son traveled from New Zealand to South Africa to try and clear the passport delay for me, and they refused to help him in any way. I am sure the poor staff at the SA Embassy in Paris are swamped at the moment with all these delays which is in South Africa. My husband died in May and I am left without an income since May. I know for sure that the staff is doing their utmost to get my necessary documents as soon as possible. Please be patient with the staff in Paris which will enable them to deal with our problem in a less stressed atmosphere Thank you Patricia for all your patience and compassion in this difficult situation.

Possibly the worst experience you could ever get at any Embassy globally. Highly unorganised and terrible to follow-up on your visa application. Long-long hours of ques without any air-conditioning in the waiting hall and no easy access to drinking water or toilets. You must call continuously 5-7 times before your call gets answered for any follow-up you may have to do. Not the first impression you want have for a country you wish to visit for tourism or business. Good luck for you have to be here.
