Interesting historical site. No English translation available so it was a challenge to understand the explanations by the exhibits. If I was still fluent in french I would have given 5 stars!

Very interesting. Some English explanations maybe would have liked more but worth a visit anyway

A bit on the small side, but well executed.

As a child I visited the underground war hospital in Guernsey. I recall being both excited and a little scared by the experience! This small but well-presented museum is a similar experience (without the fright-factor, I am an adult now after all!). The staff are welcoming and friendly. The printed information is, unsurprisingly, entirely in French although there is a three page English handout with translation of the 20 or so of the key displays. My French is good enough to get a feel of the personal stories told on the other displays but not good enough as I would like. It will take around an hour or so to complete a tour like me but natives and those with good French may well take a lot longer as there is a lot to read. It reminded me a little of the excellent Eden Camp PoW museum in Yorkshire. The gift shop has a good range of books and souvenirs and I treated myself to an excellent English translation of Normandy 44 by Jean Quellien. Pro tip: If you can, park near the conservatoire right next door. It's free unlike the pricy parking nearer the seafront (which is only a 5-minute walk away).
