An excellent and well put together museum. Headphones automatically prompt you to the display in front of you. Very English friendly. Paints an amazing picture about the history of Strasbourg. From oil paintings of monarchies to videos of World War II...with interactivity everywhere. Our only regret is we did plan our day well and didn't have enough time. But do not miss this if you have any interest in European history. Need at least three hours to visit this properly.

Nice museum. Very interactive! I understand the history of the city more now and how it developed.

Ok museum, lots of information from different time frames for the city. But the message is not very focused and the museum requires time and patience to absorb all information.

Great history museum of the city and general region. Quite a few interactive displays too, with everything in 3 languages. Audioguides are also included with the tickets. Can definitely recommend this museum if you want to learn about Strasbourg, very in-depth in many events, although excluding the largest Jewish Pogrom in European history is a huge disservice and I was disappointed. Still interesting though, worth a visit.

Interesting to learn about the fractured and ever changing Strasbourg.. I could haverarned more, stayed longer, enjoyed the experience more... but the English Audio Guide was not working... turns out I could also have got in for Free the next day (Sunday) but I was leaving that day and hopefully they will use our 9 each to fix their audio guides.

Founded in 1920, the museum occupies the building of the former Great Butcher of Strasbourg (built in 1586-1588), a historical monument. On June 30, 2007, after twenty years of closure for works, the museum reopens its doors to present a first slice of the history of Strasbourg, ranging from the first traces of civilization to the year 1800; At the end of 2013, the reopening is complete and all the rooms of the museum open to the public. I recommend you to visit this museum!

Awesome history museum of the city. Covers a lot of what and how Strasbourg came to be from the 1200s to 1950 with a little bit of history before and after that time. Very interesting and definitely worth going to 2.5 hours if you are reading the main plaques or listening to the audio guide.
