It's a lovely area to hang around at, especially if you'd like to extend your walk around the city. But I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, as the heart of the city is mesmerizing with its unique architecture and annual Christmas market
The covered bridges are in fact a relic of the town wall dating from the 14th century. They are covering a part of Ill river in the city centre. In the past, the town gate was aditionally closed by a fencing gate. The four bridges made of wood were rebuilt of stone during the 19th century.
Very nice view !
Beautiful went there early autumn
The bridges are not covered anymore, but the history of this bridge is nice.
Simply beautiful
The ones covered bridges are a set of three bridges and four towers that make up a defensive work erected in the 13th century on the River Ill. The three bridges cross the four river channels of the River Ill that flow through Strasbourg's historic Petite France quarter. Construction of the Ponts Couverts commenced in 1230, and they were opened in 1250. As a defensive mechanism.
