My children didn’t speak much French when they started maternelle, so we especially loved the small classes (less than 12) and kind teachers who really cared and helped them. Students learn the same subjects as in public school. Having maternelle and CP fully bilingual (mornings French, afternoons English) is a great opportunity for non-English speakers to learn English. Native English speakers in primary and secondary school study English grammar and writing at their own level. The kids love the huge grassy recess area. No school is perfect, but being able to be involved as much or little as desired in my children’s education and work with the teachers, director, board, and parents is a blessing.
