What a wonderful place to visit. The Sister who gave us a tour of the museum and house was so pleasant and very knowledgeable. She brought the house and family to life. We found the experience very moving. The house and garden felt very peaceful. We had been to Alencon a few times but never managed to visit this calming museum. Would definitely go back.

Really good place to visit. Entry is by donation, recommended 5 euro per adult. We were given a private guided tour) probably as it wasn't busy) by one of the nuns who spoke excellent English. The family genealogy and brief history aswell as the families artefacts were shown and we were told about them. Then followed a 20 minute film about the families early life, using headphones for English translation. Then a tour through the house with some original furniture including the bed in which at terese was born. First I shed in the Chapel where there was the opportunity to light a candle. All in all an excellent visit lasting about 45minutes. Only slight disappointment was there was a lot of focus on her parents and we weren't told why they and St terese were canonised. As they moved to lisieux when terese was still small I suspect this would be covered there so we intend visiting there on another trip having read a little more since. If you can visit both in one go I think it would be good however if you visit alencon don't miss this.
