Disappointing from the start. Picking up the car in Lille, France, the car requested, read Van supplied, was dirty, 3/4 filled with petrol and obvious damage not noted. When it came to returning the car in Bergerac; the original site we were directed to on the voucher was an empty shop front. Second option, which took us later visits to the railway station to find, was the railway station porter's office and located on the railway platform. Extremely poor signage on the platform, no signage in the foyer or outside the railway station, incorrect information on website and rental voucher meant we could not find the Railway station office site first time around. We finally found a third site, and delivered the car to just outside Bergerac. On arrival, This third site was also closed and a sign on door directed us to the airport. Luckily an onsite car cleaner took pity on us and let the Avis staff know we were at the site and they came in from the airport. Overall, frustration and inconvenience of what was deemed to be an easy exercise of returning a Avis car. We would not recommend Avis.

Poor - hiring a car abroad is always a little unnerving, however we were pleased on arrival being issued \Brand New\ Nissan micra, however it broke down less than 48 hours later no fault of ours, it was in fact a manufacturers fault and the \Brand new\ car couldn't be fixed on the road side. The office left us stranded in Bergerac and wouldn't send another car for us to replace the \Brand New\ micra infact the refused, and were incredibly rude to us on the phone, they were very reluctant to help and after 2 hours of sitting on the road side, we managed to get a lift back to the airport. They provided us with a replacement. At the end of the trip we returned and everything was signed off, however they won't refund our deposits as the \brand New\ micra is still not fixed even though the mechanic said it was absolutely no fault of ours, they have even over charged us 50 which they are refusing to refund until they get their Micra fixed. BEWARE!
