It was a whole new experience! A great point of view about Victor Hugo's life!

It's a rather curious place as I discovered it by accident for lack of proper signage. However, I was visiting Saint John cathedral and happened past this rather obscure but significant birthplace of Victor Hugo. Most curious of all, VH was born in this unremarkable building, his family left Besançon when Hugo was just six weeks old and never returned! Even inside is very sparse especially knowing that he never really grew up in this unremarkable address, 14 Grand Rue, Besançon. What really interesting to me is the copy of the only letter he wrote to his fellow inhabitants of his birthplace, thus: \Je suis un pierre de la route où marche l'humanité\ roughly translated as \I am a stone of the road where humanity walks\. It costs 2.50 to enter. Worth it? You be the judge. I mean, there's so many museums and libraries that dedicated entire sections to Victor Hugo, this place is just a \look then move on\ kind of experience.

Interesting because I like french literature. The problem is to get there, it's dangerous. A Car arrive at high speed while we where taking pictures of the house. We were deeply shocked

Not so many personal belongings... only citations from his work on the walls...
