Incredibly amazing place! It is where the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) detector lives, 100m underground. This detector studies hadrons collisions to find new particles of matter and dark matter. It played an important role in the discovery of the Higgs boson.
It is possible to arrange a visit to the CMS detector chamber and that... is the most amazing thing I've witnessed. It's the pinnacle of human understanding and collaborative efforts of tens of thousands of people, with tens of thousand different technologies surrounding it, working as a single complex unit.
Very interesting place to visit!
Don't lose the next chance to visit the tunnel. Its worth the wait and the smoldering temperatures while waiting in line. It won't disappoint you. Its full of pictures on the Internet but it's nothing like the real thing.
A privilege to visit one of the experiments -currently in shutdown- which lead to the discovery of Higgs' Boson
You have to visit this place at least once in a lifetime. ;)
Incredible place. A must visit in a lifetime !!
