The food was average and no better than you'd expect for the price. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, but I don't envy her having to work for these people. To put it succinctly, when your customers ask for the bill it means they have finished in the restaurant and they are ready to leave. What it doesn't mean is \We'd like to receive the bill about twenty minutes from now.\ I feel guilty now for having glared at the waitress in an effort to speed up the delivery of the bill. Because when my friend and I decided that we had sat there long enough waiting for it to arrive - in a 1/3 full dining area - and that we would have to take matters into our own hands and approach the bar and pay there instead, I realised that the problem was not with the waitress, it was the with proprietors. Brazen is not the word for it. I stood at the bar, credit card in hand, for a further five minutes while the (presumably) husband and wife team studiously ignored me and carried on a jolly old conversation with each other. They were under no pressure as there were no other customers requiring their attention. Eventually, the lady of the house processed the payment without asking me how the meal, etc, had been, and we were finally in a position to leave. I didn't feel like saying thank you so I remained silent throughout; when we were heading for the door there was a distinctly sarcastic ring to her loud and cheery valedictions. In summary, we had had a very enjoyable 24 hour stay in Cherbourg, but this experience nearly ruined it for us.

When in Cherbourg with time on your hands before catching the ferry, please visit this restaurant, as it's simply superb. The Pizzas are freshly made and looked great, but for me the Moules win every time. If you're a bit eater then the 1KG portion will be perfect for you, but if like me, you'd prefer a smaller amount of deliciousness, then sharing between two is perfect. The prices are very reasonable and the service excellent. You won't be disappointed.

Always great simple food and good value for money. Service is always good although quite rushed sometimes as they have a high turnover. And I would recommend reserving a table during the summer season as sometimes there is even a queue to get in.
