We went there in September, a Sunday and it was really interesting. Historically enriching. Laurence Magnanelli, a costume maker, was there to explain the significance and importance of \coat of arms\ or blazons during médieval times and the role they played in society. Fascinating. I, however, do not recommend it for children under the age of 10, unless they very interested in history. But for adults, it was fun and one can participate in some of the activities, like Blacksmith demonstration and in gigantic catapult. The team working there was exceptional.

This is mostly a well marketed old home. It's a \castle\ in the sense that there are many types of houses worthy of that name and it's definitely historic, but I don't think it's worth the entry price, and I've seen a LOT of castles in France. The silk production process is explained within the castle, which is relatively interesting and the only truly unique thing I've seen here. The castle was restored a few years back and some towers were \added\, but no proof was given that those belonged there... It might well be that they do, but you'd expect some historic explanation. Anyway, doubting between 2 and 3 stars I'd prefer giving them a 2.5, but since their rating is higher than I think they deserve I'm going with 2.
10.80 for adults and children over 14 is very expensive. No concessions for seniors or students. Very small for a 'castle' and modern additions seem to be there to increase medieval appeal rather than be historically accurate
Nice to know how real silk has been made in France.
Well worth a visit to a beautifully restored castle.Lots of things of interest.A working forge and catapults, silk worms. All very interesting
Usual French castle/chateau experience. Mp3 players for the non French speakers amongst us. Focus on the silk production that the area is famous for historically.
It gives you a good idea of high standard living at the time. Including a true, real life, silk caterpillar farm in the former stronghold. If you add magnificent views of the surroundings and a demonstration of a bigger than life trebuchet it adds up to a really nice visit. Restaurants in and nearby the building, free parking in the shade.
Good experience to the history of silk industry of France
