It is a clock tower 31 meters high located in the historic center of the city of Nîmes . The present building was rebuilt between 1752 and 1754, in place of an old bell tower of the fifteenth century (1412). The terrace at the top supports an elegant wrought iron bell tower in the shape of a crown that encloses the bell.

The clock tower of Nimes is a 31 meter high clock tower in the historic center of the city of Nimes, in the department of the Gard and the Occitanie region. The present building was rebuilt from 1752 to 1754, in place of an older belfry of the 15th century. The summit terrace supports an elegant wrought iron bell tower in the shape of a crown enclosing the bell of the hours.

Quite shockingly tall. Since the midievel buildings are gone for context, it seems like a very tall clock tower with no architectural connection to anything around it

It's not Big Ben by any means, but does a fine job of telling time in this nice square. Lit beautifully at night with changing colours.

A voir !!
