I can thoroughly recommend making the short hike up to get views back across to Rocamadour. I went up in the evening during the summer and was rewarded with the most incredible sunset behind the chateau. I used the instructions in other posts to get there, but if you can't find those here they are: 1. Park at Parking P5 la Vallee and walk across the grass towards the town. 2. Go up the steps and cross the small road bridge. 3. Once you've crossed there's a gravel track directly in front of you that leads up the side of the hill. 4. Follow this track for about 600m, it goes up pretty much straight but will then do a 180 degree turn, follow the path round to the left and on the right you will see another path heading off to a wire fence. 5. Cross the wire fence and then keep following the path, it can be a bit tricky but there are red marks painted on the ground to follow. 6. Go over the remains of a stone wall and keep going with the path. 7. This path will eventually follow the edge of the cliff round to the cross, there's lots of places to view back across to Rocamadour.

Great view of the city and worth the short hike. The way is not marked on maps. Park in P5 and then walk towards the city. Cross over the bridge and follow the path up the hill on the other side. The way into the path is fairly hidden. When you see a stone wall 5 meters on your right, look left and walk down a stoney way. You will know you are on the right path when you see red marks on the rock. The rest of the way is marked with these red marks. Don't try and short cut up the hill, it is very slippery and loose footings. Enjoy.
Stunning view of Rocamadour, absolutely worth the short hike. We saw no one on the trail and were able to sit at the top for a long time totally uninterrupted, gazing out at the beautiful village. To expand on Tom Sheridan's advice on how to get here: park in P5 (La Vallee), walk towards the village and cross over the bridge on your left. Over the bridge immediately on your left there's a stony path with four wooden signs pointing up it, including "Moulin du Saut". It's a moderately steep uphill path. Follow this for 650m, about 15 mins. Then you'll see a gap on the right of the path leading to another smaller trail (second attached photo). Follow this smaller trail, climbing over the wire fence, and then through a gap in a stone fence. On this trail there are red marks on rocks and trees showing you the way. The cross is about 500m along the smaller trail. Enjoy!
