Don't waste your time trying to call or email the embassy unless you've lost your passport. All other queries fall on deaf ears or you are just told to check the gov.uk website. Had bad experiences with the French Embassy in London with the same results - if you want to find something out just look it up yourself. You would think that they would serve their role in helping UK citizens with any questions or emergencies they are experiencing in France. Absolutely useless.

I have tried to call their number many times over the past few months but no one is answering the calls. Do you know if there is another contact number? I am trying to chase up my application form for the Certificate of Custom/ Law for PACs.

I was calling to ask a question, however I was hung up on half way through. I tried to call back, and the phone was left to ring for a few minutes before I realised the attendant wouldn’t be picking it up again. I wouldn’t have called if I could have found the information in another place, and I think the employees could consider that I was calling as a last resort, and at least redirect me to the website, if there was an answer there I had missed.

Lost my passport yesterday, went and did all the online bits last night and received the email telling me that I could collect my emergency one pretty much straight away, all the staff were polite and helpful, the simple process and staff professionalism took all the stress out of what should be a nightmare situation. Thanks guys

When I went to the British consulate when my passport was stolen in Paris I was told that because my booked flight was in less than a month I didn't have time to apply for a new passport from France (it takes minimum 6 weeks), and that I had to wait until right before travel and apply for Emergency Travel Document (ETD) within 2/3 days before travel. What they failed to mention is that you can't travel to the US on ETD, and that by now it's too late for me to get anything even if I travel to London in person (for which I'd have to pay 100 for ETD just to be able to get in to the country plus travel fees, plus cost for a new passport). One would think that two countries with such a \historically good relationship\ would have worked something out when it came to people who's passports were stolen. I travel on Wednesday and this is going to cost me upwards of 500 (plus changing my flights) just because the man at the Consulate gave me bad advice, and I really don't have that kind of money to spend. Also the consulate is obviously closed on Sundays so it's impossible to speak to an actual human being.
