Very nice staff and decor. Very good food too. We had the Cobb salad and the half chicken both were delicious. They have English menus and you can pay with card. Grimbergen on tap.
Hippopotamus is one of those places where the food is great but the service is mediocre. I visited this branch several times and the service was never consistent and rarely any good. It always took at least half an hour for any waiter to talk to us and help us order even when the restaurant was almost empty. And once they do come they're not that helpful as you can feel they want you to order quite fast so they can move on with their lives. Once you cut through this phase the food generally comes fast and is pretty good every time.. but the service makes it a bit disappointing..
Great value and the kids just love the whole experience. The food is nice and consistent and well portioned. If you are after fancy this is not the place, but with the kids and a relaxing time with plenty of options it is fantastic. The chocolate mousse is great.
