Seems to me that relaxing and entertainment was the main purpose for Romans back in the day because most of the Roman ruins I've been so far are all about recreation. You'll see the same theatres across Europe, Africa and everywhere they've ever set a foot on. But unlike Colosseum, this doesn't look Russel Crowe level ultra entertaining Gladiator style. I guess that privilege was reserved only for the capital Rome.

It is good for couple of hours visit only.

It's part of the greatest history of old Lyon city. Good for tour. The theatre has an attractive view from the upper side and people do visit it regularly for tour. The thicker walls and stairs are so attractive and inspiring.

Magnificent Ancient Roman structure still standing and functional after 2000 years, these guys knew how to build a structure that lasted! Can be tricky to get around for those that are not physically able to get up down the many steps, but even if you go to the top and view from the road/path it is still incredibly impressive.

It’s free, big plus. Quite impressive and well preserved, actually. You can walk here from the Basilica, views over Lyon.

This is a VERY wide, historically meaningful place, but you can always sunbathe here. I could see couples and families enjoying the sun on the stairs, having a mini-picnic. Make sure the weather is great if you want to visit here. It is said that this theatre had no roof from the start as there wasn't a technology to support such a big roof to cover the whole area.
