France remembers... a lot. France remembers the small details, however not small things to forget. The history of the WWII is laid out on the streets, the history of daily events, of individuals that were affected by. In this particular complex of buildings a plaque remembers Gabriel Peri. From the Wikipedia: "Gabriel Péri (Peri) (February 9, 1902—December 15, 1941) was a prominent French Communist journalist and politician, and member of the French Resistance. He was executed in Nazi-occupied France during World War II" The plaque says: "Le 18 mai 1941 dans cette immeuble est arreté le resistant et depute communiste Gabriel Peri. Il sera livre aux Nazis et fusileé au Mont Valerien le 15 decembre 1941" France does not forget! More form the Wikipedia: "After the Fall of France in 1940, the country was placed under Nazi occupation. Arrested on 18 May 1941, Péri was shot later the same year on 15 December at Fort Mont-Valérien. Albert Camus learned of Péri's execution while staying in Lyon,[2] an event which he later said crystallized his own revolt against the Germans"
