A moving tribute to what was the slave trade, providing details about it before, during and after, as well as giving insight into slavery as a human rights issue as well. Plus it's free! I highly recommend visiting.

Very interesting place to have details regarding the slavery!!! And to see that some people have fought this barbarism and that others recognize that it was a crime against humanity...

The place is peaceful and historical. The museum is small and informative.

A beautiful Memorial. When you walk down the stairs, the interior and sound effects create an atmosphere where of almost feels like being in the belly of a boat. You van read many quotes from famous and less famous people.

Interesting, unexpected and well laid out! However, it was upsetting to see some kids in a solemn place climbing the structure and treating the wooden planks like a jungle gym, with parents not telling them off.

A very moving memorial, both unusual in design and very effective. Putting it beneath street level with the concrete pillars shaped liked ship's timbers really creates the impression that one is in the bowels of an old slaving ship. The descriptions and time line are well thought out and detailed enough to give a history of the slaving trade not only that was run from the very river one sees so close by but also the extent and scope of the trade across the world and for so long. Very impressive and highly recommended if you are visiting Nantes.
