A stunning reproduction of the original caves housed in a state of the art building. An entertaining and knowledgeable guide made the long journey worthwhile. As with some other reviews the group size was too large to respect social distancing.

It seems like COVID-19 isn't taking part at Lascaux IV as the groups are way too crowded and aren't controlled well. No one can keep 1 meter distance. Groups are mixed walking through each other. The cave is too small to go with 30 participants. We didn't see a lot as we were at the back of the line. If you were able to see the explaination, it's worth the price. If not it's a ripoff.
It is Lascaux 4, there’s also Lascaux 2. But it only say Lascaux, making confuses to visitors. The visit is good. The cave is copied the original one perfectly. The small Musem and the galerie are lovely.
Cool to see the recreation of the drawings from the original caves. We enjoyed going through it. We didn't get to spend much time as we were with a group and had to get back on the bus, but was cool to see.
Bunker-like overbuilt structure reminiscent of communist era. (Big, ugly, overwhelming...) what an eyesore in the landscape and a burden on the environment. Thousands of tons of concrete, wasteful and repulsive. it doesn't feel natural, it contradicts the idea of a "cave". the architect should be shot. ZERO stars for that. inside, however, is a different story. Despite KNOWING it is just a facsimile, we felt the art was very well done, and I had to remind myself it is just a copy. 5 stars for that. overpriced at 20 euro, I guess we have to pay off the mortgage for the ridiculous concrete monster.
See this when you visit the Dordogne region or simply put it on a list of must-sees. Lascaux Caves IV is awe inspiring. The moment on the guided tour when you step into the exacting reproduction of the cave and get your first view of the paintings is stunning. At least that was my reaction: wonder at the brilliance of the art, a flood of questions about the why of the art, and a feeling of kinship with the Paleolithic people who created it. The tour begins with the discovery of the cave in 1940, carries through the cave and ends in the workshop with detailed, large-scale models of the major rooms of the cave and elaborations of the archeology and aspects of the art. The architecture of the museum is a key part of the experience. The building is nestled into Lascaux hill about a kilometer away from the cave, far enough away to protect the original but well enough embedded in the landscape to make the reproduction of the cave seem real. The flow through the internal spaces feels natural and draws you along as it unfolds the details. Nice integration of technology. Not to be missed.
Fabulous guided tours in English of amazing cave art. Brilliant interactive exhibitions all set in a stunning piece of modern architecture. Do not miss this despite the 20 euro entrance fee...
One of the most amazing places I've ever been. I visited alone first, then returned with my family. They loved it too. Unmissable life experience to see first hand the sophisticated art which was rendered by masterful artists in very difficult circumstances. This is like a 20,000 year old cathedral packed with fine art.
