Lovely museum, spaceous, luminous. The expo we visited was very well put together.
Very interesting - free for under 26s
This magnificent museum is located within the walls of the Ducal Castle of Guilherme The Conqueror. One of the most important museums in all of France, it provides visitors with hundreds of works ranging from the 14th century to the present day. Do not forget to visit the office engravings (50,000) and also the sculpture park.
My visit to the Musee Des Beaux-Arts was just perfect, in fact I returned the next day to take a second look (ticket runs for 48 hours) What a collection. Also the building is so well designed it fits right in with the artwork display. Excellent collection of ‘Local Art’ too.
Great collection but weird decisions about where to display paintings. Very well hidden Brueghel. Kids made to feel very unwelcome despite excellent behaviour. We were watched like they they were just waiting for the kids to do something terrible...
Reserve a few hours for the visit. You'll be impressed by some of the paintings they have there.
Enjoyable museum, though I'm not overly interested in 16th/17th century paintings. Nevertheless they had some interesting paintings. Most of all i liked the temporarily exposition about cubism, even though it took some time to find it.
