I'm a university professor of history, and I deliberately sought out this bookstore because reviews elsewhere spoke highly of its history collection. Turns out, after traveling all that way, I discovered that they actually had exceeding little in the way of history (although the range of its French-language travel offerings in its little inventory is impressive). However, I'm the first to admit that my French is much, much rustier than I'd like, but as a result the bookseller treated me with thinly disguised disparagement when I inquired about English editions, basically telling me to go shop somewhere else instead of inquiring about English translations from him. Had he been just a tad more accommodating, I would have gladly purchased volumes in French and painstakingly worked my way through them, and we would have both been the richer as a result. I appreciate that French literature is very important to support, but acting like all those who are struggling with French must be thoroughly ignorant cultural chauvinists is uncalled for and is certainly counter-productive for everyone concerned.

Étant loin je ne peux pas me déplacer en boutique, j'ai donc commandée via le site internet. Que dire...j'adore, j'adhère. Commande reçu en temps et en heure, en 2 jours (commande passée un samedi). Packaging sympa. À l'ouverture on trouve la commande, une carte de visite, un marque page l'effigie de la boutique et un petit paquet de bonbon et un petit mot "bonne rando". Rien à dire, je serais ou acheter mes bouquins et cartes. À bientôt.
