Call it extremely touristy but heck, it’s so worth it! Made croissants the French way, with real French ingredients. Amanda was an amazing teacher. She answered all our questions well and was very warm and welcoming! The place was very orderly and very neat. Would definitely go back here for more classes!

I've always wanted to try my hand at a laminated dough, but have been too intimidated to give it a go. I'm so glad my friend and I signed up for this class during our trip to Paris. Guillaume was a wonderful teacher, employing the right amount of expertise, humor, guidance to ensure we all had a great time and actually learned how to make croissants! They were so good! And my favorite part may have been his trick for how to use up little bits of dough so they aren't wasted.

We had an amazing time with Fredrick at our Market Visit and Cooking Class! We did this class on our first full day of our week long trip to Paris and it was a great way to kick off our time in the city. Fredrick had a lot of interesting tidbits to share about Paris and France and cooking. He was also a great instructor. We are both pretty experienced home cooks and we still learned a ton from him about both technique and food science. We highly recommend this experience and can't wait to recreate the dishes at home!

This place is the most fabulous place there is! I took 3 classes: croissants, macaroni and the evening cooking classes while I was visiting for my birthday in Paris. The instructors were fabulous and made it a great time and a great birthday. Although the strike affected transportation and the canceling of some classes the owner Fred, who I wish I would have met, was very accommodating to make sure that I was able to get the classes I signed up for since I traveled from the United States and this was part of my business training. The ambience is great, the food and pastries I learned to make were great and I would highly recommend anyone that comes to Paris to take any of their classes.

I took the evening dinner class with the market addition. This was my first solo trip to Paris and this class was a perfect activity for a social evening with companionship. I took a similar class in 2016 with La Cuisine Paris and by comparison, I enjoyed the 2016 class much more. Let me explain a bit more... The class is taught in English. My group consisted of 3 couples and 3 singles - 6 women and 3 men - ages ranged from 30 to 65 -- all from the US. Overall, I thought the pace of this class was off... The market addition made the class too long (4:30 PM start to 10:30 PM). The market visit did not add any value... We went to an indoor market - the menu was already selected - most ingredients were already purchased and we just stood around while our instructor, Frederic, purchased a few additional supplies. We spoke about cheese and sampled one cheese. We were provided with Metro Tickets (nice touch!) and then we took the metro 4-stops during rush hour. We arrived at the cooking school at 6 PM and spent a solid 30 to 45 minutes sitting around while Freddie prepared the kitchen. The menu was disappointing: We prepared a Cauliflower Veloute Soup, a complicated dish of shredded Duck served in a cabbage leaf and a dessert with poached pear and ice cream. I love cauliflower soup but I found the soup to be absolutely terrible and flavorless. It was prepared with 100% milk - no stock so it had a strange and terrible flavor and texture. The Duck dish was interesting and the poached pear was very basic and a bit bland. Wine was served throughout the evening although wine consumption was discouraged during the meal prep. We didn't sit down to dinner until 9:30 PM! It was a long night... maybe I was jetlagged? So overall, this was a fine experience but certainly not a 5-star experience, not a 200 value, and not something I would recommend or do again.

Had a great time learning how to make croissants. The class is set up so that you get the maximum experience (you do every step of the process, though not in order) for the most realistic time (3 hrs, though ours went over about 40min). The instructor is warm and friendly, and able to answer questions you have about croissants and pastry making. It was also a good class size. Because it’s so small, you also really get to know the people in the class, which was actually one of the best parts! Food brings people together. Also butter. Lots of butter..

Excellent. Formidable. Fantastique. Incroyable. Agréable. Amusement! I have visited Paris several times over the last ten years and have always wanted to take an authentic French cooking / baking class. While I was thinking about le Cordon Bleu, I was talking to my director at work and she conveyed a story that a friend of hers had attended a cooking class at le Foodist and that she had a wonderful time. I went to the website, looked at the offerings and was very excited!! I signed us up for the macaroon class four years ago and we had the best time!! Fred's correspondents are always punctual and cordial and the establishment is warm and welcoming, the staff is amazing / friendly / fun / knowledgable!! Chef Hugo was amazing and so wonderful! The next year (2018) while we were planning our annual trip back to Paris, I reviewed le Foodist's schedule and this trip it was time to learn how to make croissants! We love the instructor Amanda! She is so personable and funny, and we love her accent! Last year (2019), we were excited to get into the cream puff and eclair class. Guillaume is an excellent chef and instructor, with a wicked sense of humour! We have the best time working with him, and had a chance to visit with Amanda again who recognized us from our previous classes. That made us both feel great! We chatted with Amanda and Guillaume after the class and had delightful conversation! We are heading back this year (2020) and are already trying to decide what our next cooking adventure with le Foodist will be! I am excited and cannot wait to see the amazing people there again!! When you go to Paris, go to le Foodist!!

My wife and I had a wonderful day with Frederick at Le Foodist. We learned how to cook several lunch dishes and enjoyed soaking in the culture shared by our knowledgeable and fun instructor. The trip to the market was also great including a quick walking tour of the area. We wanted a truly French experience and this was a highlight of our anniversary Paris vacation. Highly recommend Le Foodist and we can’t wait to return to take the baking class.
