Noma Fund is rated 3 out of 5 in the category philanthropy. Read and write reviews about Noma Fund. Noma is an unknown childhood disease, which causes each year about 140,000 deaths among children aged from 2 to 6 years old. This disease of extreme poverty, which mainly affects the poorest areas of the world (South America, South-East Asia and Africa), finds its roots in precarious living conditions, and manifests itself in gangrene of the face. If the disease is not treated as soon as the first symptoms appear, it leads in 90% of cases to the death of the affected child. By launching the project "Act against Noma 2021-2030", Noma Fund aims to eradicate this disease by setting up simple, effective prevention and treatment measures, which will gradually be taken over by local actors (public authorities, local health workers, surgeons, etc.). Supporting the Noma Fund association means giving the world's most disadvantaged children the chance to escape a tragic fate, and to be able to plan their future under better auspices.
