Wow! i'm pretty sure i died and went to heaven! \The Pan Flute\, which includes several different storefronts along the same street, is now one of my favorite places in Paris! Each of the different shops specializes in certain kinds of sheet music: one shop for piano music method books and opera scores, another just for strings and chamber music, another for guitar....i haven't even had a chance to visit them all yet but as a music director and piano teacher, everything that i could imagine was along rue de Rome. The Pan Flute was easy to get to by bus (#80) but i could have taken the Métro too. At first i didn't realized there was more than one shop and the lady in the first shop i stopped into was very nice—actually, 2-3 people tried to help me right away—and she explained how everything worked. The staff at the piano shop were exceeding helpful too so overall i had a great experience and can't wait to go back. i had only two minor complaints and they're really only because of the difference of being in France versus the USA. 1.) i was not able to go anywhere to play through the music—like little practice rooms...and when i asked about buying and then returning stuff later, she said i technically could but it seemed very frowned upon. And 2.) obviously, there were very few method books in English. But again, these two things were slightly inconvenient. If you're in the market for anything musical, i think The Pan Flute is where you MUST go!
