Although Google tells you so, do not try to get here by car! It’s definitely not possible.
The 'Château du Haut-Ribeaupierre' ('Hohrappolstein'), or Altenkastle, is one of three castels (with the Château de Saint-Ulrich and the Château du Giersberg) which overlook the 'Commune de Ribeauvillé' in the 'Haut-Rhin' département of Haute-Alsace, France. Unfortunately it's forbidden to enter the castle so there isn't much to explore. There is a good viewpoint on the trail connecting Chateau Haut-Ribeaupierre with Chateau St. Ulrich though.
The inside is closed to the public and the outside is hidden by trees. Still worth the short walk from le château Saint-Ulrich.
Good trek and nice view
Le seul des 3 châteaux de Ribeauvillé qui soit interdit au public (aussi le plus élevé en altitude). On peut tout de même en faire le tour sans dangers. Comme pour les autres, prévoir de bonnes chaussures et une réserve d'eau car la pente est rude et accidentée.
