We were able to visit this old \Citadel\ in the busy tourist beach town of Saint-Florent, Corsica, France, yesterday with our grandson. We were delighted to discover a free parking area near the ancient fortress and actually there happened to be another free parking area even closer to the castle above our spot. There are remnants of the ramparts which are easily accessible by foot. The views of the town of Saint-Florent are quite stunning from up here and make for some gorgeous photos. It was just a mere pittance one paid to enter the castle which was built in the 15th century or 1439. As luck would have it there was an interesting Corsican art exhibition on the top floor along with detailed descriptions of construction of this amazing fort. We highly recommend you make this one of your stops before or after you partake of the many water sports down below the \Citadelle.\ Thanks so much \Citadel\ of Saint-Florent as you really impressed us Floridians from the U.S. of A.

Abandoned place, not looked after almost all. Real shame although it has a potential.

Nice village on the noth coast of Corse

A little disappointment. The streets leading there are really nice and have a great atmosphere, but the citadel itself is quite deserted. No shops, no restaurant, no nothing, just dust and the closed building.
