This Castle is different from the ones you probably have seen before. It combines the Castle itself with a museum, inside you can find a firefighting vehicle museum, airplane museum and also motorcycle museum. It is very nice but kind of monotonous. If you are into this types of transportation media then its the place to go when you are in Beaune.

Excellent property, with surprising combination of an old castle, with a great feeling of history, with the largest ever seen private collection of war planes, antique bikes and race cars, and other... and of course wine!

Happened upon this museum in Savigny-les-Beaune just up the road from our campsite. Full of rusting jet fuselages, restored and unrestored motorcycles, thousands of model planes, bikes and tanks plus a section devoted to real Abarth speciality racing cars. Just the job for petrolheads. The 250 pristine motorbikes, many of them English makes ( Norton, Ridge, Vincent etc) are on the second floor of the chateaux whilst the other stuff is spread around the grounds or in a barn. They also do 'degustation' of the local wines but we were too late for the morning session as they close for lunch at 12:00 today (March 27th).12 euros entry for adults.

Wonderful venue for a trip with my son. Authentic place populated by a very large number of vehicles: tractors, fire-trucks, Abarth racing cars, jets, bikes, and copters. Items are displayed as-is without much context or explanation. This gives the place a cabinet-de-curiosité flair -- wich conveys a certain charm. Do not expect to learm much about the displayed items however: you might want to bring a tech savy buddy/relative who would be capable of filling the gaps and describe the machines. On top of that, you can buy a couple of very decent bottles at the end of the exhibition.

Built in 1340 for the Duke of Eudes, the château was dismantled in 1478 following the invasion of Burgundy by Louis XI in his conflict with Marie of Burgundy. Restored and decorated in the early 17th century by the Bouhier family, in 1689 the château became the property of the Migieu family, and then by marriage, the General Count of La Loyère and his heirs, until it was purchased in 1972 by a wine grower/operator of an estate in Côte de Beaune. Located in Savigny-les-Beaune near Beaune, the château overlooks a magnificent estate of several hectares which houses, in a bucolic setting, fighter planes and vineyards. This château contains treasures for all lovers of aircraft, racing cars and motorcycles. Discover one of the most beautiful and rare collections of Fiat Abarth prototypes, as well as one of the most important motorcycle museums in France with its historic racing machines, including that of the Mayor of Dijon, Canon Kir. You can stroll around the park and discover the impressive collection of aircraft and helicopters. Come and admire the MIGS, Dassaults and 4 aircraft of the Patrouille de France (precision aerobatic team). Château de Savigny-les-Beaune also houses an exhibition of thirty or so high-clearance tractors (tractors for use in the vineyards) and around 20 fire engines. The château will enchant all ages and vehicle enthusiasts!

I highly recommend this place not only for the wine (they have a selection of very good Premier cru whites and red) but also for the visit of the owner's collection of race cars, planes and more
