Very much mixed feelings. It is a very interesting place indeed but the tour simply has fallen out of time. Instead of some scary moments and weird light effects, there should be more information about the context. In general there is a urgent need for an update, also the audio guide situation for none french speakers is rather bad. 3 stars for the historical site and nice staff, but please invest here. The memorial of Verdun is updated and came out fantastic, I hope the citadel will also receive such an update.

Very interesting and informational. Tour is available in many languages. Pretty chilly, as its underground. Would recommend wearing a jacket.

Very good historical place, preserved with several things to see and learn about first word war

Pretty interesting ride. Not so much about the structure itself, but more about the importance of the location and the somewhat 'wrong' priorities during the war regarding more focus on impressing the higher ranks instead of taking care of the soldiers.

Compared to all the other monuments in the area of Verdun, this impressed me least. It gave a small lookout into the live inside the fortress but I would have loved the explore parts of it on my own.

The citadel is a fun visit if you want to learn about the battle of verdun. The tour does not mention the use of the citadel throughout the years, but only during the battle of Verdun. Although there is a lack of history of the citadel, the story about the battle of verdun during WO1 is good. The citadel is definitely worth visiting. Easy parking and a 5 minute walk puts you in the centre of Verdun from which you can visit other monuments and buildings.
