I had heard about Villandry and its famous garden and I wasn't disappointed, that is, until I discovered that all that veg goes to waste. The house itself is very smart, a warm and welcoming family home, somewhere you can imagine just flopping into a chair at the end of the day. The gardens are certainly stunning, immaculately laid out and interesting but why they cannot use the vegetables, donate them to charity or something? It seems such a waste when so many people are struggling these days.

Perfect visit, no crowds, manicured gardens and wild grounds surrounding the castle. Lovely in every way. Recommended.
Very nice environment. Good idea to plant vegetables in The garden! You can choose to visit only gardens or gardens and castle. No separate admission fee for big families or families with kids. You can buy some plants (roses) beside The castle in The shop.

Must-see in the Loire valley! Villandry's gardens were the highlight of my trip! Such a beautiful place. The area is divided into various gardens - sun garden, water garden, etc. I easily spent about 2 hours just going around the gardens. The walk is a bit steep when you begin and might be difficult with a wheelchair. The rest should be a lot easier to navigate.
Very nice place and very nice gardens. Time to visit was estimated for 2h, but we spend 4h most of the time in the gardens and we didn't feel time passing. So many interesting things to see, to sit and relax under shadows and watch nice surrounding.
A very well kept vast garden with so much to see and do. The chateaux itself was in good order but a bit smaller than expected. The main spectacle would have to be the multi faceted gardens where you can walk around for hours and have a picnic on the grounds. The smell of the roses were intense and had a great sweet scent all throughout. They have a small garden area near the kids play area with eccentric sculptures that are a must see too.
Interesting architecture that is worth the visit regardless of the exhibition currently in force. It has an outdoor restaurant overlooking the sea and free Wi-Fi for visitors. When I was there, there was an exhibition by the artist Aí Weiwei and another one on the search for gold.
