It's a very nice choice for you and your family. Everything is prepared with a lot of passion. They have a quick and smiley services, in addition to their assorted and delicious menu!!

It was a very cold day when visited which enhanced their warm welcome. Nice food and good service.

There are very few restaurants in Poitiers (as elsewhere in France) that have vegetarian dishes (\Le bonheur est dans le thé\ only being open for lunch and afternoon tea). Watane is therefore a place you need to try. It is a cheap, café-style place. They have some of the lovely Lebanese veggie staples (Falafel, Hummus, Fattouch, etc) as well as meat dishes. I went there on two consecutive nights. Service was brisk and warm the first night, slightly less so the second night (but still quite welcoming as well as efficient). These are young people who have no false pretenses: this is a place where you have traditional food served in large enough portions, fast and no-frills. Don't expect cloth napkins or whatever. I had the cold aubergine starter the first day (forgot the name), and it was slightly too cold (undoubtedly straight out of the fridge, but hey, would you prefer your food to have stood in the heat for a few hours? I wouldn't - and really I enjoyed the dish). I had a warm starter the second day. Yummy. I had the vegetarian plate for main dish both times - little things of all their veggy dishes - extremely nice tomato salad, the falafel too dry to my liking but tasting really nice, some hummus, etc. The french fries with a little mayo served in a separate bowl were good. Homely is probably a good way to describe their dishes. The restaurant is best described as bare, but again, that is as you expect when you go to this kind of place. The wine is very drinkable and affordable - not like in most Italian pizza places where you pay an arm and a leg if you want anything better than plonk. So, yes, I will be coming back (I need to be in Poitiers once a year professionally) and Wakane is now one of my must-visits.
